Frozen Half Shell Scallops
Each scallop is frozen while still sitting in its natural shell, with the meat attached so it keeps its shape and juice through freezing and thawing. The shell doubles as a serving dish for grilling or baking.
What You Get
- Scallops on the half shell, meat still attached to the shell
- Sold in a 2 kg pack
- Plump, round meat that sits neatly in the shell
Flavour & Texture
- Sweet, clean scallop flavour with a briny finish
- Tender and juicy when cooked briefly on high heat
- Firm enough to hold shape in a hot pan or under a grill
How to Cook
- Steam with garlic, glass noodles and soy for 6 to 8 minutes
- Grill shell-side down with butter and herbs until the edges curl
- Pan-sear the meat side for 90 seconds, then flip and finish with butter
Storage
Keep frozen at -18C or below. Thaw in the refrigerator and cook the same day. Scallops toughen quickly, so avoid long cooking times.
